Visa Options
« on: December 02, 2016, 03:30:18 pm »
My partner and I are wanting to immigrate to New Zealand to live with some of his family there. We don't quite yet meet the EOIs points (about 30 or so points shorts). He only has 1 year work experience as a millwright/mechanical fitter and I only have a few months. We both have degrees from stellenbosch university, he has a BComm Management Sciences and I have a BSc(Hons) Textile and Polymer Science degree. Will we be able to initially go over there on a vistors visa to look for jobs and then apply for a temporary work visa/normal work visa once we have a job offer? I know many employers prefer potential candidates to be there for interviews. If we don't get a job offer in time we would need to come back to SA.

My plan is similar to this. My occupation is on the CSOL list as Sales & Marketing Manager. I will be traveling over on a visitors visa on my own. Once I have a job offer I will apply for an Essential Skills Work Visa. I will then apply for student visa for my kids and work visa for my wife as a partner of mine.

Take a look at New Zealand's Immigration Website to see what your options are.
