I remember how I used to watch everyone in Spur and the Dros incase they were going to hold the place up. The shopping centre across the road from Beaulieu has a Spur and other restaurants. They have been held up often. The lady at the pizza restaurant got shot and I think lost her baby. What a crazy country! When I read posts like this I realise what an AWESOME place little old NZ is.

MJ at least you weren't have a sleep and recognized danger signs.  Good on you for being alert.  Just keep doing what you are doing until you get out of here.

I know we are tired of being on edge but it is what is keeping us alive.  Once on that side we can all relax for the rest of our lives, now we need to battle it out for the last few months.  Don't give up and don't get comfortable.

I know I looked at the faces, the car make and the registration but for the life of me I can't remember it now.  They probably thought I was not a good target with 3 kids, my friend was coming down the drive already and my car is too visible with the branding all over it.

Hey there Brad. Nice to see you around again.
The important thing for us all is to just stay safe until we can get the hell out of here. Lets just concentrate on doing that.

good thinking Michelle, rather safe than sorry.

I see in the Sunday papers that the rich are building safe rooms into their houses now - if that is not the actions of a country at war, then I don't know anymore. When we were in Isreal, there was a bomb shelter in our house, complete with gas masks  :o

And like in Colombia they will start driving bulletproof cars.

when I went in to have my medicals done on Friday, there were a family of refugees from the DRC there who are on their way to OZ. The doc and I were chatting about them and I said that soon South Africans will be refugees leaving as well. He said to me that I already was one, I was just doing it the legal way...that really knocked me for a 6 because it rang so true

MJ have you been to Butcher Block in hillcrest recently? They now lock you in the place! Seriously! They open the door for you, once you are in it gets locked behind you!

Naz about the refugees... when we were over in NZ in May, we saw an employment agent who said to us, that we can go the legal way to get into NZ, or wait 5 years or so and come across as refugees - like the Zimbabwians!!

I wonder if they have had a problem   :-\  I know the estate agents have been getting mugged for jewellery at show houses so they have to let the security co know what address they are at so that if they push the panic button they can get there quickly.

I wish this was true, I think people need to leave SA now and not think that they will have a ticket into NZ in a couple of years time! I fear NZ is going to shut its doors on SA very soon...

I also think it will be harder to get in and NZ and AUS will become much more selective about who they allow in.
