A few immigration questions...
« on: September 15, 2007, 04:08:13 pm »
Hi

I hoe that someone can help me. My hubby and I are considering emigrating to NZ, and have a few questions.
1. What becomes of your policies? (e.g investment policies) Must they be cancelled once you decide to emigrate?
2. What is the legal limit of the amount of funds that a person can take when you emigrate?
3. What happens to your retirement annuities, provident fund or pension fund when you leave SA?

I hope someone can help.

Hi,
you can take out 2 mil per person or 4 mil per family. If you want to take out more you have to pay a 10$ levy.
RA cannot be touched until you are 55 yrs old.
All others including pensions etc can be cashed in and taken subject to the limit mentioned above but you will pay income tax on pesions if you cash them in.
