Smallfly! I believe it would be cheaper to just buy the GPS in New Zealand, as it will include the NZ maps. When we were there I bought our GPS for $498. I would highly recommend everyone getting one. It makes getting to interviews and sightseeing so much easier!  O0

I would say buy it in NZ, then you get the NZ maps with it.

What the hell!
Try this, going nowhere slowly, that might work too!
You will then see everything in your own time.
Howz that!

I have never used one of these but will have to get one for NZ. Especially for the Auckland trips. I know when my son fetched me we got lost a couple of times getting from the airport onto state highway one. Made for interesting sightseeing though.

I have a paper map.  It's in my car all the time.  I have been known to drive around with it folded out over the steering wheel!  :heeha: ;D  It didn't cost me a cent - the estate agents gave me plenty!

I am also keen for one of these GPS gadgets....... DH not so keen but he has a better sense of direction than me.  Also he has been in Nz for 4 months already and knows his way around when I get there with the kids and he is at work I will be driving around getting hopelessly lost I can jsut see it - I do not have a good sense of direction.

Mags & Eileen where did you buy your GPS's from in NZ........

Sandy I agree with you 100%.  If you gonna drive around on your own without navigator then get a GPRS.  Can not tell you how many different roads we took to Brownsbay shopping centre from the guesthouse, untill Charlie and Johan showed us the shortest route.  Even then we got it wrong a few times.

Oh yes, forgot to say... worth every cent. Not only does she show you the right to travel, but also warns of red light camera, speed camera and infrared speed trap ahead - VERY COOL!  O0

After getting lost six times on the way to an interview, speeding, getting a $180 speedfine, he might change his tune! One can always hope...
