Photos of NZ by Jannee

Let's see if I can get this right ..... Following on Nolan's advice, I'm going to try and upload some of the photographs we have taken of the beautiful part of of New Zealand we live.

Just to let the new guys on the forum know, we live in a small town called Whakatane which is on the east coast of North Island in the area known as the Bay of Plenty.  There are really some beautiful places in and around our town.

Photo No. 1 is of Ohope Beach, a really beautiful beach that we are fortunate enough to have on our doorstep.  This photo was taken late on afternoon.

Photo No. 2 is of a wonderful secluded beach that you can only get to by foot.  At the moment we have a really tame wild dolphin called Moko who loves this bay and the locals are able to swim with him in this bay.  And yes, I swam with him as well.

Photo No. 3 is a pic of our river wharf.  There is a walkway all along the river and it really is a wonderful place to take a nice walk.  We live close by so I often do this walk.

Photo No. 4 is a photo of a sunset over our wharf.  We often see really beautiful sunsets.

Now that I've got this right, here are a few more photos.

Photo 1 - We basically have one street of shops, boutiques, coffee shops, banks, etc.  Here is a photo of just a little bit of our shopping area.

Photo 2 - Is of a really cute little church and graveyard.  There are plenty of these lovely churches around New Zealand.

Photo 3 - This is one of a row of colourful letterboxes.  Most of the farms here get mail delivered to them and often in the country, one finds a group of letterboxes all together.  These just looked so cute, all in a row.

Thanks for compliment Ronald.  I'm just an amateur.  I really do love photography and would love to learn more.  A photography course is definitely on my To Do List for the future.

Well, thought I would post a few more photos.  As we live in a more rural part of New Zealand, my photos will be more of the countryside, little towns and country life.

Photo 1 is of a Honesty Hut selling mostly flowers.  Often as you take a drive you will find what is called Honesty Boxes or Huts where you can stop and pick up veggies, fruit or flowers for a really good price.  No-one mans the little stalls - the goods are just there with the prices and a little box for you put your money in.  You can even open most of them to get out your change.  How trusty is that!

Photo 2.  I just couldn't resist having a little peak over this gentleman's shoulder at his newspaper. LOL.  This scuplture is along the main street as you ride through Katikati.  I just love Katikati - it is a really cute and pretty town with some amazing murals.

Phot 3 - Hey girls, does this bring back memories or what?!  I remember having a doll pram similar to these.  The small country towns in NZ are awesome.  You find all these fascinating antique shops filled with the most amazing old stuff.
