New to Site - Possum & Family
« on: December 01, 2007, 11:58:35 am »
Hi All

It was suggested I write and let you all know who we are and where and what we are wanting to do so that members could help and make suggestions:::::

Well, I am Tracy (aka Possum) aged 28 and married to Dean (33) - we have 2 beautiful boys, Trent (7) and Declan (2). We are orginally from Hillcrest, KwaZulu Natal but have been living in Winterton, Central Drakensberg, KZN for the last 7 years.

Both of us are self employed - Dean has his N5 in Electronics. He has been trading but not 100% in this field. He has got a transport and towing business here. Has been self employed since 16 years....

Me? Well, I am pretty much self employed as well. I work with my sister and mom who are in jhb. I do Horse (Equine) Insurance, I do race horse trainers account billing, and I management some race horse owners "horse accounts". I also do Dean's invoicing and books.

Why do we want to leave lekker SA? Well, I think like all - we are concerned about what life our kids will have when they are our age. Crime - we are pretty lucky here in Winterton we dont have as much violent crimes as in teh city but we still do get!

I have a British Passport as well as a South African - and I was hoping that would help somehow??

We started an Application for Aus, but that was suddenly haulted when we lost R25 000 that I had paid over to the agent. I am expected some type of refund but no where near the R25 000, I will be lucky if its R2000....

So initially I thought of Canada...

Then I rekindled a friendship with MJ (on Fabebook & now here) and she suggested I look into NZ.

So thats why I am here and trying to find out more....

My oldest Trent, races MX here in KZN and this year did the SA National Leg so he is VERY much into his sports and riding his MX bike.... so we want to go to a country that is IN to mx so that he woudl have the oppurtunity to follow that in his future.

Well, thats about it (I guess)......

Hi Possum & kie, welcome to this site. I don't know much about Auzzie agents, what I do know is this, we won't "slik" you for 25G's, rest assurred. We are the "honest SA's" leaving the country, not always in the honest way, but we do try. Let me put it to you this way. We do what we need to... ::) Welcome again, don't worry, you will be sorted on this site. SAKB

Nooooooo, I wish Cranky. My hubby and I have british passports and all it means is that you can stay longer in a visitors visa. Everything else is the same :)

Possum, I don't think you guys would have problems finding jobs, but I think you would have to "go cowboy" and get here first. It's almost impossible to get a job from there that's not on the skills shortage list.

My hubby had a word with they guy from work and he reckons that Motocross is huge here O0

Electronics is a highly sort after skill too O0

As for the horsey world, well I'm sure MJ will have lots of contacts for you guys soon O0

Welcome Trace and Family!  Hope you find all the info you need here... read read read!  And then ask...

Have no idea about MX racing, but if racing is Trent's passion, he may grow new interest in some other racing opportunities here.  And by the time he's in his 20's be a V8 racer!  O0
All the best!!
lekker sweet as, y'all
