Bev you can send it via container sharing or via cargo - just do your homework first to see which one is the best way -  O0  :gl:

Hi Bevmac.  We took the same road you guys are taking.  We made use of Kings and used a shared container.  It was absolutely liberating to start over from scratch.  Good luck and enjoy!

we went with pickfords (was pretty much the only one we could use in el i think!!) and just sent it all in boxes. wouldn't say they were the best, but our stuff got here. we didnt' go for a shared container cos we just didn't have enough stuff, and they said then there is no guarentee of when your stuff will arrive cos it depends on when the container gets full! it still took ages though! good luck bevmac...

You're right, Paula.  They told us too that a shared container can take long for the reason you mentioned.  Our bits and pieces took little more than 3 months to get here. The ship is in the harbor (Auckland), so they still have to get it to Wellington, said it will take about ten days.

Just another request from a 'platsak' welly.....
(Yes, I have worked hard at it here in the northern suburbs and finally have earned the status of 'poor white'... :2funny:)

Anyone got space for a box of toys to go from Jhb to wellington in their container/crate sea or air (whatever!) Maybe even some photo albums?  :help:
(Desktop computer also but that I may try and get there sooner as has my whole life on it..........!)

I did a quote on R20 kg + with U-bag and it is :
(5-10 days from kempton -R139 to pick up at home address and bubble wrap)

20kg - R3800 door to door
R1800 airport to airport (40-70$ airport tax - R420 extra max)

30kg- R4400 - door to door
R2400 airport to airport (40-70$ airport tax - R420 extra max)

Does anyone have any idea how much a destop computer, printer  and monitor would weigh?
Oh, I suppose I could stick them on my bathroom scale....
The albums will be the killer!!

Really? :o

Pleeeezz send me Kings contact details for a quote! I was getting so despondent!
I only need about 5-6 boxes .....Toys/geneology stuff/ computer/photos/memorabilia! O0
Just something from home to make us adjust a little easier! :'(

When you read and search the posts most seem to talk about containers and sharing containers! Gets so confusing!

How long does it take to get to NZ?

Thanks Bev!

marillac ,  unless you really need to play games on your desktop.... i suggest you save your money and not spend 6000 on PC,  buy a 300gb small drive,  courier the data over, buy yourself a dell for about 1000 dollars, and a cheaper printer about 59.. ans send your PC in the container because you will have to get a Screen too, which is already about 10 kg on its own.

I had my computer shipped over. in hindsight i would not have, but in my defense,  i was alone for 7 months.

or sell the computer and buy a laptop and transfer all info over, then bring laptop in hand luggage (you get it extra so you still get your hand luggage allowance + handbag + laptop)
this is what we did! was very easy.
