Most Kiwis do an OE. It is a right of passage, a long standing tradition. Almost all Kiwis I know under 40 have done one. Being stuck so far away from the rest of the world many young (and older) Kiwis will do a 2-3 year stint in UK, go travelling etc. Some then work in Oz, and then many return to settle down, buy a house with the pounds they saved etc.

Loads of SA youth up to 35 years of age tend to do the same.  I did a working holiday in the UK at the age of 26.

Colleen you are right! Many of the people I have met that spent a few years in Aust come back to raise kids.

They say there is no place like home.

I agree. NZ is the place to raise kids.

I really do not care what tohers think for me NZ is THE place for family and I am sticking by that. When I spoke to Syd last night he was absolutely gushing about the place. He kept on about how Kiwis are fantastic and the country is os beautiful. I had to shout a couple of times to make him stop so that I could get a word in edgeways.
