Letter from Beeld
« on: March 29, 2008, 09:56:24 PM »
A family member (who is a little bit against our decision to emigrate) cut out this letter from the newspaper Beeld. It appeared in the 20 March 2008 edition of the paper.

I scanned it and decided to upload and attach it for those who want read it.

what a load of nonsense.

NZ 4.2 million people......average of 66 murders a year (mostly domestic violence or gang on gang)

SA 45 million odd......25000 + murders.........you do the maths......

Regardless of that I dont want to be ruled by the ANC....full stop......thank goodness!

I want to bash people like this over the head. They must be TOTALLY crazy to go back to SA.

I was driving home last night about midnight....stopping at offramps on the Auckland motorways....even dark patches......and I realised that my window was open.....radio loud......door unlocked.......and I had not bit of fear that some savage would hijack or kill me.......pure bliss!

I couldn't agree more with everyone here.

It seems like there is a lot of people trying to stop other people from emigrating, that's why you get letters like this one published in newspapers. There's even ads on TV suggesting that people should rather stay and "make a difference" to the country.

Even some of our friends and family are still positive and try to convince us that the country is not that bad and that the weather is so bad in NZ and that there is crime and and and...  ::)

Ag siestog shame!  Maybe Bossie was just having a bad day and needed a shoulder to cry on.  By the time the contract is up Bossie will realise that there is NOTHING to come back to SA for.
A family of 5 (mother worked with me) packed up and went to AUS.  Their container hadn't even been delivered yet when they were too homesick and thought they made the wrong choice, so came back to SA.  Six months later they were back on the plane to AUS. AND sent their container again!! What an expensive exercise!  But I suppose if they hadn't done it, they would always have wondered if they made the right choice.  Now they know they did! O0

Yip, there's also this ex SAffer that works with me. He went back to SA after just staying 4 months, because his wife missed her mom. The second week 'home' someone got murdered in the road outside their house. Within a month after that, they were back in NZ.

:idiot2: I too have been bombarded with " advice" of not burning bridges in case I want ot come back after a while. Do these people honestly think we go into a major decison like this without doing TONNES of research? They can come back if they like I will NOT be.
