I am civil,   but to kick someone every time when they feel homesick is getting a bit old.

Sure there is bad things in SA... but there are also great things.  If i didnt have kids i would still be there.

If you had nothing to go back for ,then by all means ,  write SA off.  I have family there and my dad and siblings still live there.  Not seeing them for the next few years and having our kids grow up without knowing them will be hard.

btw...  being off topic and all that.

back to the NZ CV.

Hi,

I know one thing for sure:

You need a covering letter with your CV
Not a Cover Page but a covering letter

Kiwis read the covering letter and if it is good they look at the CV
Without a covering letter they will look at your CV if they are desperate

Landed me 2 job offers....
EOI drawn on 04/06/2008
ITA received 26/06/08
Completed ITA submitted 20/08/08
Received PR 25/11/08
Received passports with PR 21/01/09

Yip, I also believe a covering letter is very important.  And if it is really good and interesting, it will grab their interest and they will look at the CV.

Someone gave me this tip, especially if you are trying to look for jobs whilst you are still in SA.  So I really worked on my covering letter and also personalised it for specific jobs - and I really believe that is how I got a recruitment agent interested in my CV and then interested in me.

Just want to say tx to every1 that contributed to this thread. Followed your advice with the Cover Letter and the CV format and voala.... Got a call from the biggest locally owned IT company in NZ.

They have called twice already and want to have further discussions on Monday. Ive got a good vibe about this 1.
