Dont worry about that, the scenery is awesome here.  Any campsite is a little paradise. :P
On the serious side though, I sometimes think the Kiwis do not always realize how privilaged they are.  They seem to complain about things ex-SAners find trivial.

It's because they have nothing else to complain about except the trivial things that they think is something major. Die Kiwiekies tog, tsj tsj tsj, ek skut soms net my kop en se; JA as julle maar net geweet het??? Cheese and enjoy, SAKB.

pieter,  nail and head.

The other day i was walking to the train station ,  laptop on the shoulder,  backpack on my back,  through wellington city... i was about half way to the train station (about at subway on featherston street) and i suddenly reallised i forgot to look behind me.... you know who was checking me out...no one.

after 2 months in nz i became so relaxed it never even dawned on me that someone could be targetting me for my laptop.... LOVE THIS PLACE.

i  bought stuff today.. and i was thinking to myself.. what on earth will i do with all my boxes.. because those who live in JHB might also have the habit of not putting the boxes outside... people see you have new stuff and you get robbed the next weekend.   so I mention it to my friends here.. they say chuck it out... even better.. leave your front door open.. no one will take it..  I am still trying to relax but i think we are all living with shell shock to a certain extent.  People here in nz dont know what its like in SA...i dont know if i want to tell them.. they find the stories rather grim and not wanting to know the details because i think its easier no knowing.

back on topic.. you spend next to nothing on  a car because no one will comment on your *** car if you buy a 20 year old mazda like me.  in nz you will onow the interstften hear "you dont need more"  ,  its pretty much the way gs are here.. why have a big house..you dont need more than 2 rooms... why do you want a big car.. ydeou dont need more than....  people say it often. I have enough money, i dont need to go job hunting for more.. i have enough.

just dont make debt and the interest rate hikes will leave you alone.  mostly
:crazy2:I am trying to sell my house, but  now the house market is not very active,i will not move my goal post of going to N Z,i will rent my house out for the time being, the wife is not very happpy, but we the overcome the brigde to get to the end goal  NZ

Yeah, when I bought my car a kiwi moaned about the road tax saying it was just paying money to the governement for nothing!  I think my mouth dropped right open.  The roads are so well maintained.  The other morning when dropping DH at work I noticed a pothole in the road when I went back to get him in the pm it was patched!
In front of our house they are redoing the road.  They have been there for the whole month that we have, there is concrete and stones and more concreate.  The driveways are all cemented beautifally to look uniform and there are lovely walkways on both sides of the road and truck loads of topsoil between the pavement and the road.  When they are finished we will have a brand new road, pavements and new grass.  and they complain about paying road tax. Go figure?
