haha... you sound like my hubby, Johan! Just before we left SA for the States, he bought one of the first digital cameras available in SA, the Sony Mavica... I was so angry with him, sayiing that we can't show it to anybody (of course he just LOVES to show off his new toy, which boy doesn't?) because here we are trying to sell all our STUFF to our friends and family to kastig pay our way over, and he goes and spends R6000 on a toy!!
But you know something? With that camera, we captured some last minute specials of hte country, and today, Joshua has it and he's learned to take some awesome pics (at 5 already!). Now 3 yrs later at age 8, we're thinking of passing the mavica on to Heidi (6), and letting Joshua get a little more advanced one... hm... perhaps before we leave here, because hi-tech stuff like pc's and cameras are DEFINITELY more expensive in NZ.
