Anyone working for SA Company from NZ
« on: August 05, 2008, 03:50:52 pm »
I have just been made a very interesting offer to work for an SA company over the Internet, from New Zealand.

I have PR, so that not an issue getting in and working, renting etc.  O0
Converted "Salary" is very nice in NZ$'s  O0
Will apply for the IRRV under option 1, significant time in NZ. So that ok.  :P

But this is really going to push the hell out of the Double Taxation agreement between NZ and SA.
Getting the money out could be interesting as well, after the first R500k. :knuppel2:

Anyone done this yet?

Regards
Andre

I am not aware of anyone doing this, but I would chat to a SA'n accountant as there must be ways for SA companies to pay overseas employees. It is not your personal allowance you are taking out, you are being paid for services rendered so the laws governing what you can take out of SA personally are not relevant, especially because you are a NZ resident (maybe no need to mention you are also a SA citizen?)

On another note : were you not issued a RRV when you received PR visa?

Start an NZ company and invoice the SA company. They'll have to get Reserve Bank approval to pay a foreign invoice - but that's a normal part of business.

Hi Nolan

Yes I have a RRV. It Expires in 22 months time.
After that I need to apply for a new RRV (1 Year) or a IRRV if I meet the conditions.

Andre

as long as you have been the required time in the country and can prove you have made attempts to settle : bank accounts, accomm, etc. you will have no problem O0
