Shall I do the US one?  Nah, nobody else is interested in US prices... but I'll do it for myself.  The milk is EXPENSIVE!  Is that organic?

Colleen even though this is a NZ immigration site I think it would still be interesting to see the US prices as a third comparison.  I have noticed alot of people from the US complaining about the cost of food in NZ on other sites.  We were in the states for three months in 2000 but I don't really recall the food being that much cheaper. :)

That's because most Americans only have half an IQ, and don't realise the dollar in NZ isn't hte same as in USA!  :2funny:   Haai sies, Ek's lelik!  :crazy2:

I don't buy many of those things, but I will take this list and get the prices at the store one day just for fun.

Happy - the beef prices - you don't mention for what kg that is?  Or is that PER kg?

We pay around $3.50 for a gallon of Milk which is 3.78 litres.  We pay $3.99 - $4.50 for organic milk (1 gallon).   So the milk there is really expensive -  unless the calcium kids milk is a special type??

Total after Tax   $159.62  for a family of 4 (kids aged 8 & 6) eating well- you saw the steaks and salmon.  Oh and that did also include the Happy Feet DVD.  ;)

At the current exchange rate, that would translate to R1,104.51  or to NZ$216  for about 2 week's groceries.
Note, there were no soaps, toiletries or cleaning agents in this list.  We buy 24 rolls of toilet paper once a month for about $5.50  and since we installed a water-softening and filtering system for the house 4 years ago, we were given enough soaps and detergent to last 4 years, and we still haven't depleted the supply!

I've also at least tried to remember the weights or qty's or some items that weren't given on the slip.  This till slip was from March 30th
