Proof of self employment ...what route to follow?
« on: October 06, 2008, 09:40:25 am »
My wife and I have both had our own biz for the last 12-15 yrs. She's a Austrian qual hairdresser who owns a salon,  and myself, an aluminium windows & door manufacturer & contractual cleaning company (sold).

How would NZ want us to prove this..... CC documentation??

Lets hope there's some work for us out there.  :help:

ciao

Hmm....

Proof of ownership, and then possibly Tax returns, invoices and receipts... not everything, just something from each year to prove the business has been going for that time?  That would be my suggestion... Nolan may be able to help, as he had a similar situation.

Copies of your Company Registration documents if it was a CC - i.e. CK1
Bank statements in Co name
Financial statements from your Accountant

Good luck.
Kind regards,

Edwin

we had to submit 10 years of financial statements from our accountants and had a devil of a time explaining that we only keep 5 years records by law.
also all company Registration documents and tax certificates.

I ran a sole prop for 10 years and just submitted copies of 60 VAT returns, showing the bi monthly turnover. They were quite happy with that.

Tax returns, all invoices, letter of references from clients.  Had no payment slips.  That worked for us.
