Agree with all of the above!

I have been looking for a job now for two weeks non-stop and will be returning to SA in another two weeks.

If it so happens that I do not secure employment I can think of 100 reasons or excuses as to why I did not receive an job offer to tell the folks back home.

Truth is this:
If you allow enough time, do your homework, and is not scared of work (any work) you will get hired.

I am currently in Management and if I expect the Kiwis to hire me as a manager it aint gonna happen (without some luck involved). You have to start somewhere even if somewhere is the bottom of the food chain.  Hey it can only get better right?

just my thoughts

Stay positive!

What line of work you in ?

Maybe some one on the forum know of an opening  O0

My DH is a tradesman, ran a large sucessful business in SA and is now just a tradesman again - for now! But what he has said is there is no help for the tradesmen, no "cheap labour" to help you lift and carry - you have to do all the hard slog yourself and some people can't deal with that.  A job where he would send a tradesmand and a few labourers, here you are sent alone Jack.
His wage is not what we are used to and the cost of living is high but we are safe and sound and happy

As someone else said, we also removed things from our CVs because weren't getting any response ( we were both in management in Zim) and we are both in much lower positions but we don't have a problem with that. We know we have to prove ourselves in the NZ job market.

We basically played down our experience, for example Wayne was MD of a company in Zim but it was a non voting position so he put his title as Branch Manager which was actually what he did anyway. I had the same thing, I was admin manager at a hospital and when the General Manager left they gave me the title but I did exactly the same as I'd done before so I left the GM bit out of my CV. You need to play down your experience, at least thats what we found. Others may have had different experiences. :)
