Subsistute for Myprodol
« on: December 17, 2008, 03:16:45 am »
Hi there

Can anyone tell me if there is any medication in NZ similar to Myprodol? ???  We recently asked for something for a really bad headache (not quite as crippling as a migraine), but all they could offer was neurofen or otherwise some migraine bomb?  Sometimes one needs something stronger than Panadol or Neurofen.

I asked a pharmacy the same question and they gave me Tramil (I think)
Certainly knocked me out!!!  but then I am sensitive to it!

If I get bad headaches I get mersyndol (similar to betapyn) over the counter.  Makes you very sleepy but worthwhile when you feel the pain ease.    (If I can't sleep sometimes takes 1/2 before going to bed)

I suffer from migraines and I take Voltaren. I think they will give you a couple over the counter without a prescription.

Thanks everyone, I'll give them a try at the pharmacy.  It sounds like it should work for us.

I bought Nurefen Plus, from the chemist and added half paracetemol (250mg) and that give the same formula as in Myprodol.  If you take two Nurefen Plus, then take a 500mg Panadol, of course. I cleared it with the pharmacist, and he said that would be exaclty what he would have done.

If anyone is still interested, Adcodol works for me and this is how I do it.  My sister accumulates about 3 x 100, empties them and inserts a flat box and puts "Pills" on the parcel.  MAF here looks at it, has let it through every time, and it's couriered through to my house.  Wonderful!!
