Howz the weekend so far?
« on: March 18, 2007, 05:23:16 am »
Had a fairly boring day today. Did nothing.  Didn't even cook.
What are you all been up to?

Friday - friends over for cricket - channel hopped like mad to watch Cobras, Proteas and Black Caps win  ;D
Sat - Candice swam in her first Gala. The first race, the whistle blows and she doesn't start swimming  :2funny:, next two race go fine after some coaching about the importance of the whistle  :), but no medals  :(. Shame, after every race, she climbs out the pool : "Did I win a medallion?". I felt sorry for her, but at least it was a lesson in - you can't always win. Luckily she wasn't upset or anything, she just wanted a medal.

We used the GPS to get us there, go buy KFC for lunch, find the Spar and get us back to the pool in time for the next event  O0

So then I give the GPS to my Dad so he can see how it works (he is also a gadget junkie). What happens - the GPS wants to take us the shortest route home - through the squatter camp  :uglystupid2:  :2funny: :'( :-\

They left for holiday today, so I gave them the GPS to use for the week ???

Today - family & friends over for a braai, cricket this afternoon (Lions & Titans - go Titans)

I guess you still need to know where you're going - you need to know about those squatter camps to avoid them!  :)

Glad you had a great time.  Tell Candice she'll do better next time.  It takes practise.  Plus the important thing is not winning, but knowing you did your best.   Go Candice!  We'll be rooting for you next time, if your daddy remembers to tell us ahead of time!!  O0

I've had my kids in for swimming lessons nearby at an indoor pool.  I want to make sure they can swim fairly well by the time summer arrives here, and also for when we get to NZ.  Joshua is showing potential for becoming a good swimmer, so will perhaps get him into a swimteam once on the other side.

Candice is an absolute water baby - we ony have a jacuzzi though, so she can't practice her swimming like the other kids  :(

Skyla and Candice would get on really well. She insists on swimming at school (because we don't have a pool either) even in the rain. Her teacher gave her 5 mins last week, while she stood with an umbrella?? ;D

We also don't have our own pool (or even a jacuzzi!).  The public pool nearby closes when there's "weather" due to safety concerns (more like when there's thunder/lightning), but often just because it's raining, because there's few people who would swim in the rain, so it doesn't pay them to keep a life-guard on duty in the rain.   I think Joshua would LOVE it if the school he goes to has a pool too!

There are leisure centres  and indoor pools here, but you have to pay? We haven't been yet because of where we live, they're a bit of a drive away, so we keep putting it off?? :-[ poor child :-\

Here we have plenty of community pools, not indoor though.  If you don't live in a particular community, you pay about $2-$3 per person.  But if you live in the community, you can buy a $15 year ticket.   We have two in our community, and the year ticket works for both!
