How dare he make such an insulting assumption just by being in JHB for a couple of days. I have also had some fantastic times in JHB but also some terrifying.

Any ounce of respect I had for him is gone. Ignorance truly is bliss. B@stard!!! Who does he think he is!?!? He will be going back to his safe 'lovely' country and he thinks he knows everything about JHB by just being there for a couple of days!!! People like that need to shut their faces.  :knuppel2: :censored: :cursing:

I know everyone should have freedom of speech, but do your bloody research first before you open your trap!!!!

And I was so hoping to go to one of his show a few years ago - no chance in hell now that I will ever support him!!!

(rant over)

What an absolute idiot!

So because during his week long stay in the posh Northern Suburbs with an armed security guard he wasn't raped, mugged, hijacked or shot dead, we moaning South Africans must all be making up the terrible crime rate?

Riiiiight... :uglystupid2:

I seriously think everyone in SA should forward all our lovely "safe" news paper articles to the PRATT and someone in the UK should smack him on the ear for gross stupidity  :uglystupid2: I am changing this smiley's name to clarckson ! d*****

And here are some crime stats - hot off the Norwood SAPS shelves...

Aggravated robbery - increased by 31.35%
Common assault - increased by107.14%
Residential robbery - increased by 30.43%
Carjacking - increased by 50%
Business robbery - increased by 300%  :-X   :banghead:

I want to know if there is another planet out there with a Johannesburg?  I know, maybe he's actually confused with Johannesburg in Michigan (USA)???  >:D

When we lived in the UK, we were often accussed of "exaggerating" how bad things were, and we left in 2001 >:(

really?,  not saying you are exaggerating.. but to be honest,  people ask me this too.

Being here,  i ask someone if they remember the stabbing last year.  it was a guy who after work helped a woman from being mugged and then he was stabbed in the chest and died.

.... everyone remembers that..

that is my point.. they remember the 1 guy that was killed.  In SA 53 faceless nameless people die every day of the year... no one even knows why .. and if the murderers were caught..

on tv,  when someone gets murdered.. you can wait for the report of the person being caught the next day,  .... gaurenteed... In SA the chances that a murderer would even be found is unlikely....

so yeah,  we exaggerate.... because WE werent killed so it could not have been that bad.... but then again, dead people dont report on the crime.. now do they????

I must remember that, ronaldd, the next time somebody asks if I'm exaggerating O0

The best part was when we said that, some people even carry guns to protect themselves, then the answer was almost always the same.......... do they carry them to protect themselves from the lions and stuff roaming around

Now, I have never been the type of person that expects the rest of the world to have a clue about what is going on in SA, hell, I wouldn't be able to tell you how bad or good things are in Russia, and I pride myself in generally keeping up to date with world events, but that reply is just plain stupid :idiot2: Why mention wild animals when we were talking about the crime................but then maybe they had a point, these criminals in SA are like wild animals ;) >:(

You know, I'm an ex-Capetonian but even I'm  :censored:ed off! I was in JHB on business for only 2 days days last year, I had breakfast at a Wimpy, close to my client, opened a morning newspaper and read that a ten year old boy had had his privates cut off (for muti) just down the road and was found crawling on all fours (just outside of Sandton, no less). Fortunately he was found in time and I think he would've survived but what is his future like now?

I am so be :censored: as I type, you have no idea!
