Thanks all,

Malindy sorry for the short introduction.

Our application was lodged in December and we were waiting for my daughter Bianca's birth certificate.  Home affairs apparantly stated that the ID number wasn't her's  :uglystupid2:, eventually the agency cleared up the mess and as the London Immi office comes out for two weeks for interviews the agency sent them the outstanding certificate and begged for an interview which we got .

Ok so at work they started advertising my post which feels kind of awkward as I told them that I am emigrating.  They are really cool about it as they stated that I could stay till the end of the year if I'd like so no pressure and lots of time to train my replacement  :smart:
So the plan is to start applying for jobs in NZ as soon as we receive our passports ( not sure if I can earlier because seek, etc. says you have to be eligible to work in NZ to apply).
If I do get a job while still in SA, it would take a great deal of stress off from us but if by the end of the year if I am still unsuccesfull I will work my notice month in Jan '10 and fly over in Feb and hopefully get a better chance of landing a job.

We've sold our main residence at a loss and replaced our cars with very cheap ones which we can easily sell if we need to go. We currently live in our flat and might have a buyer.  We also have a townhouse which we will let as I have family that can look after the place, but ideally I would have liked to sell it but the current market is too bad especially with the credit act in place.  So we hope to sell it when the market recovers  :coffee:.

Not really picky where we will settle but it depends of where I get a job.  I am not sure though if windy Wellington is my cup of tea though, but if I get a job there, I'll take it.

We've scaled down on most to make the transition easier, for instance we have no maids and I did the gardening myself in our old house.  Also living in the flat I think will make the adjustment in NZ easier as I am sure the we won't get a big place not with our rands.

All in all I can't wait to get to NZ to start our new lifes, but there is still a big mountain to climb because landing there eventually without a job is still a big burden.

Some more about ourselves, well I am 35, my wife 33 and my daughter 3 (almost 4 in July).  My wife is a home executive  ;).  My daughter is in an afrikaans creche but we try to learn most new objects for her in enlish now and of course the usuall dose of Schrek and Spongebob in english I hope will pay off.

I think that's about it for now,
Keep well

Sounds like you've done your homework!
:gl: with the interview - remember that if you want to prepare for the questions - it's all on the forum already. We had ours in November and it was easy peazy as we were well prepared...Keep us posted!

Hi tmprince,

I don't think you will find it, unless you become part of buddy migration on the site.

Final interview went just fine for me, but I will only feel at ease once I get the acceptance letter.

One general piece of advice I can give is that in the final interview they would want to know obviously why you chose New Zealand and the best thing you can do is tell them why you chose New Zealand and NOt why you want to leave South Africa.

Generally a good positive attitude about New Zealand will get you far.

PM me if you want more info.

Regards.

Voreilly, did they ask anything that's not covered by the questions on the forum?

Who was your interview with?

Hi gleroux,

I tried to search for the questions but couldn't find anything so I thought that you have to be part of buddy migration as it is something that people can pay for  :-X but I was not too phased as the agency I worked with gave me typical questions which was spot on.

If you have the questions I could maybe relate if you want to, not sure how it fits in with the rules on the site by posting them in the open forum, so maybe PM me.
