So now they kill and burn down your house!
« on: July 13, 2009, 09:30:05 AM »
I can't think what it must be like to be a part of this crime scene.

I hope this does not start a new trend in crime!

"....Die moordenaars is nog nie aangekeer nie."

Every murder and robbery article in SA ends with this sentence!  Probably because the police spends more time trying to "cook" the statistics than to actually catch the criminals!   :tickedoff:

Read about this earlier... WTF! :tickedoff:

It's become virtually impossible to live on a farm or plot in safety in SA...

This is just so terrible!!   We're sitting in NZ enjoying the freedom it offers but everyday I think about my family in SA and just hope and pray that they will not be the next victims.  These people are barbarians.   :tickedoff:

We stayed on a plot in SA and that was just 2 and a half years ago. We did sloppy patrols over weekends after some crime happened in the area. Not everybody was committed. After we were gone the patrols stopped, some crime happened again. I'm still friends with some of the people in the area and they now have patrols every night from sunset to sunrise and there is even less crime than before, if I understand correctly. You have to take charge yourself. If you don't, the cops won't protect you. Cheers, SAKB.

My parents stay on a plot. I am a nervous wreck about them 'cause just the other day an old couple on a few plots away was murdered!  :tickedoff:

They bought the place about 15 years ago to get away from the rush of city life althouhg they drive in everyday, but that has all been taken away. When we go there for a braai in the evening, my dad puts the alarm  (a mobile box) of the beams on the table by us! I mean all the freedom that they wanted by buying the place has been taken away. My mom feeds her chickens with the pump action gun!! :tickedoff:

This makes me so mad and sad! >:(

At least they're not complaicent about it, they're pro-active, say thanx for that. They know something can happen and are ready.

tmprince - The fact that she needs too is a worry in its self!

Yes I agree, but, not everybody wants to emmigrate, like you and I, and if you want to live in SA you should learn to adapt or ..... Luckily they know they have to adapt, and they did, good on them. Cheers, SAKB,

Its that constant vigilance thats exhausting and one of the biggest things we are grateful for here in NZ - that we dont have to constantly look over our shoulders and be one step ahead all the time.
Life is too short for regrets.
