NZ or AUS
« on: April 07, 2007, 06:52:07 PM »
Hi Everyone

I need your honest advice.

Where will be the best to go to NZ or AUS my husband looks like he is changing him mind on NZ and he wants to go to Aus now.  Will this be good for us.  We have no problem getting in there.

Do you know of any sites like this where we can talk to people moving to Aus.

I have only one friend in Oz, and they seem to be liking it... from the little that I know, I think NZ offers the place with the least difference culturally speaking, even though there ARE differences... I also think that because NZ is smaller, the concentration of SA'ans is bigger, whereas Australia is a huge continent (same size as North America, bTW), and so, although there may be many SA'ans there, one is not as aware of them as in NZ?  just my opinion....

Oh, and I was under the impression that it is far easier to get into NZ and THEN try for Oz, if you want to get there eventually, than to go to Oz first... I might be wrong...

Yes Colleen it is easier to get into NZ than OZ.
We wanted to go to Aus three years ago but it did not work out and we were so dissapointed but when I started looking at New Zealand late last year Jason and I decided that NZ was definately more for us and that even if we could go to Aus tomorrow we would be happy with our choice to go to NZ.

Yes

I think we will stick to NZ as there is to much nitty gritty with Australia.  There is also alot more cost involved in getting there and to live there.

Does anyone know where in NZ will the weather be a bit similar to Pretoria Gauteng

Hi Elzane

I don't think there is a region in NZ with similar weather to Pretoria, as the climate in Gauteng is dry with thundershowers in summer. Temperature wise you would be looking at Auckland where the temps seldom dip below zero and reach mid 20's in summer. However, you have rain throughout the year - no thunderstorms and lightning as we know it.

Rather think more coastal weather - Cape Town and PE = Wellington, Durban = Auckland more or less. To get an idea of the weather in NZ you can login to the MyMove section or on the home page. Once logged in you have a link at the top where you can check the daily forecasts for each region.

I have come to the crossroads in my quest for living abroad.I have gotten 2 excellent sources in Oz that could assist me to get in on a sponsorship. The route is longer and more daunting than NZ but i will be leaving SA with at least a job offer.

All my attempts getting a job in NZ seem to be fruitless. Its still early days but if Oz comes first i will be on the first plane down under.

I will serve my time there and maybe after a couple of years move over to NZ......thats if everything goes according to plan.

But i also said its either or.......whichever comes first!!!

:gl: Rodz.  If you get an opportunity grab it.  Something in the line of don't look a gift horse in the mouth, or something.  Oz is just a pond away from NZ if you think about it and not a dam like it is from SA.  Good luck again.
