I hope he gets to keep it! He has a lot of support here in SA... Afri Forum has begun talks with the Canadian Government and Immigration Services to try and help him.

I really hope he gets to keep it. In some way I think the granting thereof will be the smoke before people start looking for the fire.

Maybe we should run a parallel poll, something along the lines of " Which political Party in South Africa will get the most mileage out of making a big noise over this thing ?"

Seems to me the ruling party is already streaks ahead.

I wish this man well. In some circles he's already a folk hero.

Any comments on the similarities (and the even bigger differences) between this man and all those who fled the country in the days of apartheid claiming to be persecuted, who underwent military training, later returned to plant bombs and kill innocent civilia..........

Oh  **** I think I just gave the answer away.

I also hope he gets to keep his refugee status, but realistically if you ask me they will open up a can of worms if he gets to keep his refugee status.
If he gets to keep it, then all (non-blacks) from SA should get refugee status, else they will have to come up with criteria like:
hijacked -> at least twice
stabbed -> once
name calling -> more than 10 times
robbed -> more than 3 times
...
Then you get refugee status  :D
If he gets to keep his refugee status what is stopping any non-black SAner to just fly over and emigrate very cheaply via the refugee status?
Don't get me wrong I am on his side and I think that it is correct that SA is close to a war zone if you look at the murders per 100000, but how are they going to keep all of us from claiming refugee status, that is my question?

voreilly - I agree with you. For his sake I hope he gets to keep it, but if that happens Canada just opened a whole can of whipass on themselves because nobody will be able to stop the easy flow of "white refugee's" into their country. I don't know if their economy can take it at this present moment....  :-\   ::)
On your criteria system, ALL whites qualify already...  :2funny: . Cheers, SAKB.

Well,  regardless if he keeps it or not,  every person who now claims refugee status ,  will get scrutinized to death.

The amazing thing is now not that he got refugee status(he isnt the first), the important milestone will now be if ,  among all anc pressures on canada, another person will get refugee status on the same criteria .  THAT would be the true milestone.
