:flight: Well - it looks like my plans are coming together to make a trip mid July to mid August.  Been told it is the coldest time of year..... brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

So what do you guys think  I suppose that seeing NZ during the worst weather is a good thing... if I can handle it... then it's a given...
My friend in Chch will take leave and do a road trip with me.. from chch all the up to other friends of mine in Kerikeri.  I'm actually getting quite excited  :yippee:
Her and I on a road trip - oh man.... will have fun in the sun...oops - I mean snow!!!

This is probably going to ME....  :2funny: :2funny: :2funny: :2funny: bring on the thermal underwear.

Jip, we also came over on our LSD in July and August and said that if we thought we couldn't do it then, then we wouldn't do it at all, and it wasn't too bad. Cheers, SAKB

I think its perfect. :)
We did our LSD trip August/Sept and spent time in Auckland and even more time on the South Island. It was cold, but thermals are DEFINATELY the way to go (as is a good water & wind proof jacket!)

In fact, we loved our LSD camper trip so much, we're doing another one next month! :)  :smitten:
Flying to Christchurch, picking up a camper and tripping around. Can't wait!! I also can't wait to actually see it snowing - which is my main reason for braving the weather. Figured we can keep going in the camper until we find snow, if we have to chase it all around the South ISland! :)

:2funny:  :2funny: Don't think you're going to search too much....  :2funny: , by the time you guys are going there might not be any roads left to search on because they may ALL be under some SNOW  :2funny:  :2funny: . Go and enjoy!!! I still want to take a camper and do the SI but the "funding" at the present moment is not coming through...  :2funny: . Enjoy, SAKB

I must be honest... Hiring a camper to do the LSD is something I never thought of... this sounds like a great plan... :smart:

** tearing up all the old plans** :uglystupid2:

I am definitely going to go the camper route... but I have a few small general questions on this... will read some more and if I cannot find it I will open a new thread.. 8)

great advice so far..  :smitten:

Wow received so much great new info on this thread!

One quick question, just how warm are those campers in the winter nights? I can just imagine freezing my behind off when its snowing  ???

I looked at some sites that you can rent campervans (thanks for the links!). Will have to send them emails to hear if we may hire one if you only have a SA drivers licence. Can anyone advice what the park fees are per night? Would like to work out a +- budget of course and not sure where to get those prices.

thanks
