Hi All
« on: May 13, 2010, 10:42:32 AM »
Hey Guys (and Gals)
As everybody wants to know everything, here goes:
My name is Ben and my wife is Elize and my little girl is Zoe (BEZSteyn :))
After the birth of Zoe I started to realize that I do not want my little girl to live in a prison all her life so I started to look at where the safest place in SA would be and how the crime looks there - Big Shocker :o - I could not find any place safe enough. So I started searching a bit further away and then Elize's brother anounced that he is immegrating to NZ.

Took a look at what was happening there, and I liked - I liked a lot. The more I researched the better I liked it.
So I started the process, read a LOT, Found out what would be needed (still quite a few things I don't know) and now we are waiting for Unabridged Certificates before I submit my EOI.

My heavy has left Cowboy style on Wednesday (His EOI is in the pool, but he needs a job offer NZ side - Hairstylist in Wellington if anybody knows of a opening).

I should fare better as I am in IT and on the long term skills shortage list, Holding thumbs all the way. My car has already been sold and we are putting away every cent to save for the move.

Still feel very bad about taking Zoe away from her grandparents, but I need to feel my kids will be safe when I turn my back. Thanks for all the info on this site from everybody - I have already learned a LOT.
I will most probably move to Auckland to start with ad maybe later looking at Chch.

So - hope that is enough info for you guys. And I will keep reading and ask if I don't find what I'm looking for.

Good luck bezsteyn and welcome.

Getting an unabridged certificate for my daughter took longer than actually getting PR so hope you
don't have to wait that long.

Keep us posted on your progress...

:welcome:  BEZSteyn, hope you guys will sail through the process and be in NZ shortly.
The "heavy" might not battle to much.... I still think there could be a couple of possibilities right up his alley.   :gl:  to you both. Cheers, SAKB.

:bigwelcome: to the family guys, we know how you feel, but it's all worth it.

I also think it shouldn't be a problem finding work for a hairstylist.

:gl: with the EOI, keep us posted.

 on making the decision. My youngest is 13 now...and has lived a life of "condemnation" - I should have made this decision a long time ago... but in hindsight - once we eventually get to NZ - he'll know what his home country is all about and happily embrace the freedom of the new one.

And as for quote above re unabridged.... :'( AH NO...don't tell me that....I was HOPING for 4 - 5 weeks....damnation!

@ cyclewife, home affairs is pretty jacked up at the moment with passports and Id books so maybe it won't be that much of a wait, don't sweat the small stuff you will need all the stress you can handle later on in the process.

Also only just recently bezsteyn...so a long a haul awaits.
Done the app's for unabridged and passport for youngest as well....can't do much without that in hand. My and hubby's passports only expire in 2016.
Applied on 13/05 for unabridged.
The new forms ask for both parent's ID numbers and place of birth (old one's didnt)
Both my parents deceased - so had to search for the ID's...after a lot scratching - they appeared.
