Online stores
« on: August 10, 2010, 07:14:51 am »
Hi guys.

What online stores are there in NZ, like kalahari.net and loot.co.za?

Are they any good? I love ordering CDs and books online.

Hello,

There's loads of specials sites (www.1-day.co.nz; www.grabone.co.nz) that have 1 day specials on some very cool stuff some times. The other day they had snowboard gear at really good prices - I've bought many things from these guys.

As for other online stores, try the following:
www.mightyape.co.nz
www.fishpond.co.nz
www.whitcoulls.co.nz (books and music)
www.trademe.co.nz (you'll find everything here!)

I think other shops like the Warehouse and Marbecks also have online shopping. The other places I found the other day were www.neatmeat.com, www.clarksorganicbutchery.co.nz, www.huckleberrfarms.co.nz and www.ellersliemeats.co.nz for excellent organic produce which they deliver or courier to you!!  :2funny:

Regarding books, Whitcoulls is expensive here and the books take 12 days if not in stock.  And most of the books I need or want, are not in stock.

I used Book Depository in the UK.  www.bookdepository.co.uk  .  They are similar to Amazon except you can't buy second hand and the shipping is for FREE !!!  Much cheaper than Whitcoulls, and it takes only about 1 week from the UK to here.  They say 20 days max.

Trade Me is fantastic.

Yes. we are one of those families that walks out the library with 35 books !!!  Always reading, usually a few books at a time.  But there are certain books that you have to have in your house to consult now and again, and those must be bought.  We try and buy one of these a month for our library.  And we homeschool, so that also adds up.  I really , really miss my books that are still in SA.   :'(

We are in a rental, no space for a bookshelf.  Books have overflowed from the windowsill, against the heater, against the TV and now large piles on the floor.

Crazy life we are all living.   :2funny:

Hehehehe...

We didn't quite have 50 boxes of books <stares at Marcia in astonishment>, but we did bring ALOT of them
We (fortunately) have a study room BUT we ended up using the pine shelving that we brought with us which we filled up quickly. Still have boxes to unpack just don't know where!

Marcia.  We are the same.  Just my recipe books are around 110 books.  All well read, loved and spattered with food.  Gave away so many books the first time we left and now I refused.  Just have to build a house around the books then  :2funny:
