Hi there

I'm also new to the forum. I'm Schalk's little sister (little, being younger) and Koosman's wife. Koosman basically summed up what our process entails up to now. And Schalk basically summed up how scared we are to go through with it.

What do I want? To be able to see my 3 kids grow up and be there for them, cause at the moment I am forced to work (something I always told myself I wouldn't do if I have kids) and to be able to take them to a park, read a book and not worry about them being hurt, stolen etc, etc. My desire to be a fulltime mom is basically the biggest drive to this once and for all.

En Schalk, my liewe broer :flowers:... ek sal jou NOOIT kwalik neem as dinge skeef loop nie. Jyt die forum as getuie... :angel:

 :welcome: A hearty warm welcome.  Scared?? I'm petrified. Its a decision that can't be taken lightly. And you often doubt yourself...."Am I doing the right thing" Even though I've been there now - and I've just arrived back home...the doubt always settles in.  And I LOVED NZ.. make no mistake about that.
But the list of pro's and con's is still in progress - and the pro's side is now definitely outweighing the con's side.
Now I know why so many people on this forum state that immigration is NOT for sisies.

It ain't easy, from decision to action, but as long as you keep the end goal in site, it's all worth it in the end.

When we said we were going to leave my MIL said "over her dead body", then later as her eyes started to open it changed to "I agree it's best for the kids" and now she has just booked her ticket to come visit. Can't wait to hear what she says after the visit in November....

Wow, I can't believe you guys replied so quickly. Thanx, you sure know how to make someone feel welcome. :)

Nolan, fortunately my parents have actually given us that final shove that we needed. After reading Schalk's letter (the one he posted on the forum "looking back after a year in NZ") my mother said that she thinks we should get ourselves over there, because my husband is also turning into someone nobody recognizes anymore... aggressive, hateful, etc. My husband is NOT like this, but his work and politics are turning him into this and if we could get the peace Schalk talks about, it would be GREAT!!!

 :welcome: by die forum - niks wat die moeite werd is in die lewe bekom jy ooit maklik nie.  Ek glo as jy die besluit vir die regte redes neem en al die beplanning goed en reg doen, is daar net een weg en dit is vorentoe.   :gl:

 :welcome: by die' forum. Ons is bly julle is hier (ek dink Schalk en Nellie dalk meer as die res van ons{nie dat ons nie bly is nie}[ons is altyd bly as nog 'n SA'nse familie dit veilig uit SA uit maak]) en dat julle hopelik gelukkig sal wees op die forum en nog gelukkiger in NZ.
Soos daar vroeer gese is ... emmigrasie of immigrasie (watter manier jy ook daarna wil kyk) is nie gebou vir "sissies" nie(en dit is nie 'n woordspel op die feit dat jy Schalla se sissie is nie  :2funny:).
Dis moeilik. Die "maklike" deel van emmigrasie is lyk my gemaak. Dis die besluit om te waai. En as dit vir julle moeilik was dan kry jy dalk 'n idee van hoe moeilik dit dalk nog kan word.
Maar daar is 'n klomp wat hier is om julle met raad en daad by te staan. So, skree net en ons help so ver as wat dit menslik moontlik is...  ::)
As jy verstaan wat ek bedoel...  ::)

Looks like this is the place to be to make new friends  :party: and maybe kuier with some family  :smitten:

Forgive me if I'm not going to be too active during week times, but due to the fact that I HAVE to work, I hardly have time for anything else, but I'll try my best (come here before going on Fb.... :2funny:)

Hope u all the best as well and would be great to meet you all in person on NZ soil, especially Schalk (he sounds like a nice fellow)
