I know this topic might be a little old for some but please allow me to give my opinion on this question.
Since I have been considering NZ as a destination for a long time already i have been watching news and events in NZ with interest. My wife was shaken by the quake and some safety questions were discussed. But even after all that I am even more keen to come over.

I am in the maintenance and construction industry with 22 years experience and I am very keen to know how I can do some good in helping to rebuild C-Church in NZ. I would be very interested to know where and how I can come and help.

Surely it will take several years to finish all the work.
as one of the previous posters said. Disaster can happen any day and anywhere but focusing on what could be has no benifit. Rather focus on what can be done right now.
