Youth corps worries DA
Thu, 10 Mar 2011 6:32

The training of some 340 Free State youths, part of the National Rural Youth Service Corps, in Thaba Nchu was a concern, the Democratic Alliance in the province said on Thursday.

This followed a briefing of the Free State department of agriculture and rural development in a legislature portfolio committee meeting that the participants would receive training in household profiling and military discipline.

The discipline training would be carried out by the SA National Defence Force (SANDF).

Free State DA leader Roy Jankielsohn said there was a legitimate fear that the ANCYL were the only participants of the training.

The initiative was launched on 1 February 2011 and the training would be done at the Thaba Nchu College.

Jankielsohn said although skills development among the youth was necessary, both the recruitment and training should be more transparent and non-partisan.

"The DA was concerned that there was no clarity over the criteria of recruitment of these individuals, besides the information supplied that they were recruited from various rural wards," he said in a statement.

The DA was not aware of any recruitment that took place in DA run wards.

Jankielsohn said considering comments by the ANC Youth League President Julius Malema over the need for the league to undergo training by the military, the Free State development was a concern.

"The militant stance of the ANCYL's president together with his Kill the Boer utterances are further cause of concern within this context."

The party would request the DA's defence spokesperson David Mainier, to ask questions in parliament to the Minister of Defence on the military's part in the training of the National Rural Youth Service Corps in the Fee State.

Don't like this one bit.

"....would receive training in household profiling."

What is household profiling, anyway?

Hi All

Malema is just another reason to  :smitten: NZ..
Last year, the grade 7's I was teaching in SA were in hysterics, when a Malema speech was on TV with the idjit saying he would rather shoot himself in the head than commit suicide....

One of them told me a joke....
Malema was zooming in his chauffeur driven car thru the Freestate when they veer off the road, and crash into a sty full of award winning hogs. Says Malema to his driver "EeYo...these boers are terrible and strange...go tell him what happened". Off goes the driver, and comes out of the farm house 2 hours later, dressed in the farmer's best suit, carrying a case of the GOOD whiskey, a leg of lamb, and getting kisses from the two buxom blond daughters. He hops into the car and off they go. After a few minutes, Malema asks "What just happened ?"  "Eeyo JuJu" says the driver "you are right..Boere are STRANGE. I went to the door, and when he opened it, I said I'm Malemas chauffeur, and I've just killed the pig, and they started clapping and giving me gifts ????"

Hehehehe - lucky us, he won't ever be the leader of our country...
