I take it you talking about those LPG gas bottles that you get refilled for those big portable gas heaters?

We tried this last year, but found it worked our more expensive. You can buy an empty new bottle from the warehouse, normally around $50. You can then get them filled at the Caltex garages. I think its about $30 to fill.  Some garages offer free swop outs, normally for the same price.

We went through gas bottles so fast last winter. Sometimes the gas would only last 3 or 4 days. Maybe we were just using it too much? Its very nice for instant heat and in heating the room quickly. But often we found we would run out of gas and then we needed to have the bottle refilled. Gas heaters are also dangerous as they steel all the oxygen out of your home, u therefore need to leave a window a little open (And then there goes your heat) . Also could not ever get used to the smell. Heat pumps are the best alternative and use far less electricity.

Thanks groenlemoen, yes, we would go through a gas bottle in one week! Geez, so that could work out very costly! But then again
our electric bill is quite high, so by using our oil heaters will only push up that bill as well - I have  been doing that on the skelm
or else my hubs will have a fit... ;D S that would be about $30 odd a week.....I am sure the elec will work out more> Thanks for
the advice.
