New and set to go!!
« on: July 14, 2011, 09:50:24 AM »
Hi all
Just want to introduce us to you all.
We are a family of 4.
Morne 39 years dad, Eloise 38 years mom, Lene 7 years daughter and latest Ivan 2 month old son.
I am a CSI and applied for a post in Auckland. Fortunately we are in demand in most countries but posts in NZ are very scarce so I was very fortunate. Just been informed that after all the interviews etc I was the chosen one.
So now its fullforward and of we go. Following the Work to residence (accredited employer) route and can then apply for residence after 24 months.
Should receive the formal job offer paperwork by next week.
Sister and family already in auckland so looking forward to joining them.
Will post my joys and concerns as it starts realizing. Passports all four in place and receiving the unabridged today.

Thankyou Ostrich if you know of any known pitfalls in my process please feel free to let me know. I notice that the medicals can be an issue. Not sure exactly what history and for how long ago they require info. As kids my wife and I had the usual ear issues for example but its not been a issue since then.

They mostly look for big things. Some people hit a delay, but many others don't. We had to wait 4 weeks for medical assessor approval because of high cholesterol, but it all came right in the end. :)

They put all the details online, with the forms, so you know what to expect:

A hearty and big  :bigwelcome: Morne, Eloise, Lene and Ivan!

You had me at CSI -- could not get the image out of my head while reading your intro.  I just saw somebody putting on some sunglasses with some or other lazy pun and then a loud background scream of AAAAAAHHHH!!!

Good luck with the rest of your journey and please feel free to ask us anything if you get stuck in any way.

Let the rollercoaster ride begin....

Thank you all for the gr8 welcoming to your forum. I am really glad I came across this forum. Already found a lot of information to assits us in the process. Realised very quickly that our route is not too complicated and I will therefore eliminate the use of a agent. As you noticed I said CSI. One always thinks of CSI Miami etc and how gr8 it seems. Not all they tend to sell on TV, but it really is that interesting. Fortunately or shall I say unfortunately there is not a lack of work in SA, so one tends to gain a lot of experience that very few people in other countries with lower crime rates have. If they see how many murder investigations I attended in my 20 year career they always react with shock. Yip can't wait to meet up my sis and her family in Auckland. All in good time as you all say...alll in good time.........

:welcome:  Fantastic news that you have made this great stride in the right direction.  You are correct in thinking that you do not need an agent.    Good luck with the rest of it.  Lucky to have family here too.  We just got our blue stickers yesterday and the feeling is Sweet as ........

All in the hands of the HR in NZ now, they will determine how quickly we can get the ball rolling. All the docs on my side filed and ready to go. Will wait for the medicals until all the job offers paperwork is in my hands. My future colleagues are already e mailing me asking if we are packing. Seems to be a very nice group of people eagerly waiting to work with me.
