« on: August 09, 2011, 07:38:22 PM »
Hi forumites,

Husband and I will be making the move to NZ in May 2012 - we have our permanant residency and visted NZ on holiday a few months ago. We have been  reading posts and find your advice, humor and knowledge incredibly helpful....look forward to more connecting in the next eight months and beyond....

Where are you landing in NZ.

There should be someone who can pick you up and take you home for the first day after your 23-64 hour flight.

Its August now,  I suppose the thing the forum doesn't cover is "good bye braais" .  Never to early to do a road trip to go say goodbye to all the friends.  Extra pairs of shoes and extra month of meds in case you have to go through a process to get a script from a doctor here.  Doctors notes.

:welcome: Goodgirl.  Does this mean Hubby is Badboy ?   :)  Yes, where are you landing ?     Nice to have new faces.  Perhaps you have something to add about your whole process that may help others going through this at the moment.

Hi there

Thank you all for your warm responses! "Badboy" Aka Hubby and I are researching job prospects in Auckland and Wellington however we understand that we will settle where we get jobs, so fairly open on this. We are looking to arrive in Auckland, and ideally would like to settle there or in Wellington.

We liked both cities a lot. Hubby has family in Christchurch and Tauranga...so we don't have any close family or friends in Auckland.  That being said, where we land jobs will define where we settle.

Thanks for advice on medical scripts and shoes...any bits and pieces of advice that you may have to share, will be greatly appreciated!

We applied for our PR 2010 received it in 2010' visited NZ earlier this year...and scheduled to arrive in May 2012...counting down to our new Home!

Thanks All!

Cycle wife, Hubby and I are IT and HR respectively.  Hubby is a Business Analyst and I am an HR Manager in the FMCG industry.

Process was very straightforward, we did seek the guidance of an agency, which we don't regret, as they were really very helpful through the process, however looking back, I also realize that with the right amount of research, one can happily apply without needing an agent.

So heres a question....

'Badboy' aka Hubby, has to give a three month notice when resigning; our original date for coming to NZ was May 2012.  We have been doing some thinking and realise that we also have the opportunity to come through in mid January next year.  Bearing in mind that we have PR's but no jobs....in your experience what is a better time of year to come through...considering that we still need to find Jobs.
