Moses from .... well ... Capetown.
« on: September 06, 2011, 05:48:59 PM »
Hi to everyone on this awesome forum. I have been reading the forum rules and post for the past few hours and already learned allot.

Xcuse my manners... allow me to introduce myself.

I am Johan Du Plessis. I currently live in Capetown SA. I currently run my own construction company down here.
I have various qualifications in several trade orientated industries including electrical with wiremans.  :smart: ???

Economic pressure has seen the business suffer really slow times and cutbacks and it has prompted me to start investigating other options a while ago. After much looking around and talking to folks like yourselves I made a decision to move to NZ.

I was however really pleased when I stumbled across this forum.  :yippee: O0

I have only just made the decision to strt the move so I am really at the starting line here.

I will ask questions later only as I still have a fair portion of the forum to read still and this might clear up some of these questions . For now let me say thanx for excepting me on the forum  O0

:welcome: Moses, best you get that staff working so you can part the sea and get to this side  >:D

This is a great starting off point for anyone wanting to make the move.  Do you have kids ?  A lovely place for them too.  We are ex Cape Tonians from Hout Bay, and don't miss it at all.  We have our own beautiful little Cape Town here in Nelson and wish for nothing except some decent socks and underwear  :2funny:

Cheers and good luck

Hi Johan, and a big, warm, hearty  :bigwelcome: We too are from Cape Town, but, the Southern Burbs.

So agree with everything Savayla has said!

:gl2: and enjoy the immigration roller coaster, it is SO VERY worth it, NZ is simply beautiful, and yes, most places,  very similar to Cape Town.

Thanx to dievissers and Savayla and Tui... I feel welcome already...

No I do not have kids yet Savayla... who knows what the future holds. Funny you should mention Nelson... I was looking at it as a option of living there later on.. although most of the work offers I can see online is in the mayor cities. I have always been a country boy as I grew up on a farm.  O0 . I kinda said this somewhere else but I am really glad I found this forum. The info on here is awesome!! been reading for the last 3 hours straight... and allot to go still.

so far it seems to me I need to start the paper trail ASAP. just getting my ducks in a row as to what all this paperwork is..:)

hold thumbs for m..:P

:welcome: and  :gl: with all your plans and of course the mountains of paperwork.  If you're a farm boy at heart, you won't be sorry if you consider NZ and especially the South Island.  As you know, Christchurch will need plenty of skills for the rebuild.
