Cyclist hit by a buck
« on: October 12, 2011, 02:15:47 am »

Yes, a buck, not a bakkie :2funny: Just received the email/video clip from a friend of mine.....oh, boy did we laugh, what are the chances.

Evan Van Der Spuy a mountain biker was hit by a buck while riding at Albert Falls Dam in KZN. Thank the Lord, he was okay, but this buck came like a bat out of hell from nowhere and knocked him clean off his bike......

Now that's a great story to tell your Grand kids one day :2funny: :2funny: :2funny:

Only in Africa hey.  Nice change in headlines - it's normally 'Cyclist hit by a truck'.  He was interviewed on 5FM this morning, says he does not even have a scratch on him, just a sore neck.  The buck was seen later that day grazing in the bush like nothing had happened.

Evan was interviewed on CNN as well. 17 years old.. and seriously famous now.  Couldn't believe my eyes when I watched it in slow motion.  That helmet imploded
Now the buck is tweeting... yip - Redhartbees... he reckons his hooves are ok.. was also wondering if Bryce Lawrence cycles - he'd like to invite him to a race  :2funny: :2funny:
Today Evan was given a brand new 2012 Scott Spark 29er bicycle with helmet etc
Great ad for Specialized helmets - they should use the footage... saved this kids life for sure.

Couldn't resist sharing the antelope's latest tweet:

Just had a nice kip. Dreamt about hoofing Bryce Lawrence. Time to eat grass! Hope @evanvdspuy is still good.

Lol, but I wonder if that antelope actually hoofed it, to attack him?? I mean, after all, that is a very, very vast veld, and more than enough room for any animal NOT to run into anything  :2funny: And I am sure it was the first time the buck saw a man on a bike, he obviously could not understand what 'animal' that was >:D

Strange behaviour.  I know in the E Cape, kudu often run into vehicles causing a lot of damage. Why choose that moment to try and cross over the road??? :idiot2:

Animals can do some strange things sometimes. I have heard of Kudu running up to a vehicle at night and trying to jump over the lights. Not front on but from the side. I think sometimes they feel threatened and do some odd things like trying to jump over the threat. But I am no expert.

I think something similar happened here or the attack was territorial. I mean the handle bars could look like horns......... :2funny:
