Thanks guys! Although we did have some hectic moments at the start, regarding employment and securing a rental.....all good, and yes, the best decision we ever made. Wow, how time flies ::)

Hi Tui

Congrats on making one year- I think it was about the same time last year that we really started making plans to move to NZ and i recall reading your ups and downs- I'm glad everything has settled and to know that even with the downs you still find the move worthwhile gives me a great feeling about NZ.
Will be there on the 21 Dec to start spending some quality time with my Wife. Cant wait for her to show me around and all the cool things she has found over the last few months.

But there is still so much to finalize before then, hope i dont go  :idiot2:

Congrats Tui!!!

It is strange, the 1st 12 months feels like a big blurb in ones mind doesn't it? it just goes by so quickly. Thanks goodness we can also tell people now that we have been here for 14 months because in the beginning when people asked how long we have been in NZ and we told them 2 weeks they all responded with " Ag shame"   ;D ;D

Thank-you wavegnarl. The first month here we just chilled really, hubby sent CV away, kids were not in school and our first rental was almost on Papamoa beach, so we really had a jol. Come December and no response to any emails.....by Christmas we were starting to get a little panicky. End of Jan, still nothing and by the beginning of Feb, I was almost in a pre nervous break down mood....yes, I remember bearing all. We fell hook, line and sinker in love with Tauranga and the thought of packing up once again and looking for work in a bigger City was too much for us

And then ALAS, my husband saw the ad on good old trademe for a position at Holden Tauranga.....which said, ONLY EMAILS ACCEPTED....meaning please do not walk in, what does he do.....he walks in with his CV, and ends up getting the job! PHEW! Some times it pays to take that bloody bull by the horns.

Scary days, but oh so worth it!

:gl2: to you, it will all work out in the end!

Lol, you are so right frodo/maya - a big blurb in ones mind, could not have put it better ;D I have been told by so many immigrants that it takes a full 3 years to settle  Sure this is different strokes for different folks, I know we still have a long road ahead of us.........I have learnt always to expect the 'unexpected' not that I am a negative person, just realistic....but this move is something we really should have done sooner. And so far, all good.

Congrats on your first year!  I'll be happy to get through my first month :) This has been the most stressful time of my life.... still two weeks to go.
