« on: July 09, 2013, 10:25:43 am »
We are a couple that has fallen victim to hi-jacking, house burgles and car breaks much too often! Just last Thursday the broke into out 3month old car, completely ruined the dash to get the radio out, came back for the TV the next night!!! We are so fed up and quite nervous, is there anybody out there that could possibly show us in the right direction to get out of this crime ridden county? PLEASE!

Sorry to hear about your misfortunes.

The authoritative place for all things NZ immigration, is http://www.immigration.govt.nz. Have a good read through there and then you'll be better positioned to ask some questions.

Awesome advice by member.... always do your research.

But if you want an assessment done to see how ready you are, please send your and your partners CVs to Peter at jepwood@xtra.co.nz and he'll send you an assessment form which you need to complete fully and return it to him. This is a free service by NSIS and if you're wanting to go further then that's up to you... stay safe  :coffee:

I always find it interesting how it has to take a hijacking and a armed robbery before people make a move... as if they have a few lives .

ronaldd, that is so true.
Just before I left work in SA, someone asked me why I am leaving the country. I said that there were many reasons but most of all I am leaving because of crime. he turned to me totally surprised and asked "Why? Is it bad where you live?" and I couldn't help but wonder which planet he had been living on. How does one not see it?

Shaaim huh, I read this in today's NZ news, stuff.co.nz...seems die Swart Gevaar is everywhere!!!
How is crime-free NZ life anyway, these days??

A rural Manawatu woman had to lock herself in her bathroom after a man broke into her house and assaulted her.

Police are appealing for help finding the man they believe committed the home invasion.

The man entered her Rongotea home on Tuesday at about 11pm.

Police say he made demands for motorbikes before assaulting the woman, who escaped to the bathroom and called police.

The man ransacked the victim's bedroom, and could be heard talking to someone else in the house, before leaving on foot.

He stole various items including jewellery and electronic equipment.

Detective Sergeant Kevin Anstis, who is in charge of the investigation, said the victim sustained some grazing and scratches.

Police are asking people to let them know if they see the alleged offender.

He is described as a Maori, aged mid to late 20s, with short thick straight black hair.

Kaitangsou. Has anyone on this forum said that NZ is Utopia ?  We know crime happens, everywhere in every country. I see it getting worse everywhere. But you need to compare apples with apples when making a statement like that. The crime rate here is NOTHING. ZERO. Compared to SA. Most people don't lock their doors. They don't live behind bars and worry about their kids being raped and them being tortured during a robbery.  There have been some horrible crimes committed here in NZ, and guess what?  They perpetrators are caught and jailed!!

How long did you live in NZ before you went back home? Just interested in your story as you seem to hate NZ.

Alot of us Saffers (stupidly) grasped onto the hope that things will get better in SA, hoping such vial things will never happen to us such as have happened to rjcouple. And as long as it doesn't happen to you, all's good. You put up with the *** tasting water and the poor electricity supply in the hope that tomorrow will be a better day in SA... but it usually isn't.

Since 2009, I have been contemplating the move but always found a reason to stay. Your family is here... your friends are here... you've got a job here, will you get one in NZ?... will you fit in?...

For some people it isn't so easy just to up and go
