NZ wine society is having a fantastic special .  14  great  quality wines which usually retail for up to $19 a bottle (either all reds, all whites, or a mix ) for $99  or 14 premium wines  (usually up to $22) for $149 .   Delivery in Auckland costs $7.99, elsewhere $12.99 and South Island $14.99.  Takes 2-5 days.

Can either phone them at 0800 80 9463  or go online  www.nzwinesociety.co.nz/sky

Enjoy !! My box should be on my doorstep in a few days .

Cheers, SAKB

Nico when you come to Auckland you can let Janet and I take you there - however you need a whole day (well we do as Janet need so much time  :2funny:). There are like "jare se winkels" under one roof!
Kind regards,

Edwin

my 2c :

if you want to buy decent clothes, import it.

you'll quickly tire of the neverending 'sale' in nz. higher markups means a greater % off

My teenage daughter looooooooves Jay-Jays and she was extremely happy when she saw that Jay-Jays is in NZ  the prices of Jay-Jays in NZ and that of what I paid in SA are 100% the same if you convert back to R.

Have not done much clothes shopping yet but I am very happy that I found clothes for my son, in SA I seriously struggled to find him clothes, his size was always sold out even at Woolworths. We bought my husband a pair of Chinos at Farmers ($50.00) very good quality.

Something that i have noticed is that exercise clothes such as Adidas tracksuite pants and expensive tekkies are very IN in NZ, I see quite a lot of moms in the shops with tekkies and their Adidas/Nike/Russel shorts/tracksuite pants and expensive t-shirts? have others also noticed this or am I blond?

Battled to find the girls winter shoes.  Today we battled to find just a simple pair of summer, practical sandals.  Ones they can hike in, play in, etc.  Will probably end up forking out $95 for Teva's at Rebel Sports.  I think the shoes here are

Interestingly enough, today at a homeschool picnic, us moms and dads were all talking.  There was only 1 Kiwi amongst us, the rest are from the UK, with one American.  And yes, she is very opinionated.   They were all complaining about shoes, socks and underwear here.  The bad quality.  And a german woman I know who lives here, has her mom send her shoes from Germany.

So it is not just us Saffers who complain.

As for a lot of the Kiwi girls and younger women and how they dress ?  I just have one word.  Tarty !!

i cant believe i started this thread two years ago!!!

and now we will be in NZ in 3 months time.............

so i have been starting to think about clothes and stuff, what to take, should we buy now etc etc and thought i would bump it up and ask if you guys still feel the same way about the shops and shopping experience as back then

also, do any of you buy clothes online? say from marks and spencers? because i see that they dont charge postage for deliveries to NZ.

thanks everyone :-)

Did not realise this thread was so old ...

Anyway, buy as much clothes as you can while you still in SA. You won't be sorry.

My wife just got back from SA, came back with 2 suitcases full of clothes mostly for the kids. She bought a lot from Mr Price and Woolworths. The equivalent would have cost us a fortune in NZ

I find the Farmer's clothing here similar to Woolworths and as long as you buy on the sale days you'll be sweet.  And they have sale days every month at least.  Just bought a whole bunch of stuff for my daughter last week as ALL kid's clothing was 50% off. I paid $10 for 2-piece sets and dresses - no way would you get it cheaper at Woolworths these days.  By all means buy some stuff before you come, but also try and get used to paying NZ prices for things and budgeting accordingly.

Agree with SA3001 - I had no space for decent working clothes in my suitcase so went into Farmers on a sale day a few wks ago and bought 4 smart tops and a pair of trousers for under R1000 - I had to hunt as the sizes I wanted were hard to find - but after an hour I had what I needed and the sales staff were so helpful! Quality = woolworths - on the things I bought
