Thanks Sash82! good things come to those who wait, and I believe you and hubby will get something great, pretty soon! Just hang in there. Easy to say from someone who has a job offer already, but from what I've read already you guys will be alright! ;)

With all that is going on, I do have 1 question:

The job offer for an occupation that is listed on the LTSSL but not exactly worded as such, would that be a problem when submitting my Work VISA application? eg.The job is for a Test Analyst. The occupation on the LTSSL is a Software Tester. Just need to make sure I have my ducks in a row. :help:

thanks!

Hey Rodster,

I'm sure you remember my answer from when you posted this question before, but I wanted to add that the LTSSL is not the be all and end all of immigration. It just makes things "easier" in that there need not be a labour market study because it has already been deemed that there will be a shortage of people with these skills in the long term. Your job offer is for a skilled position and therefor you could potentially qualify under the skilled migrant visa which is for skilled professions whether on the LTSSL or not. Not all the occupations on the LTSSL will qualify you for PR straight away, some are on a work-to-residence basis.

Look at the previous link that I gave you and also look at the INZ website (this section might help: http://www.dol.govt.nz/immigration/knowledgebase/item/1240). If you meet these criteria then you need not worry so much  ;).

Immigration will assess your duties rather than a job title. If you are in fact Software Tester by your duties but your job title is something like "operating system auditor" you will be fine
I am a licensed immigration adviser in real life. I do love what I do and how I do it. Peace!!!

Update time!

After much deliberation and thought, I've decided to go with Company B (The Accredited Employer). They have been fantastic from Day 1. I called this evening to enquire about airfares for us and they said that they will let me know. I hope they pull through this one last time. :)

Start date is 14 January 2014 or pending Work Visa approval! We hope to leave SA after the first week in Jan '14. I don't even wanna think about good byes and farewells, but hey, we have to go through it!

We were hoping to be based on the North Shore but it seems for now, we'll be looking at Howick or Botany, preferably close to work. Both areas look stunning and close to the beach. I'm a coastal boy like that!  ;D

So, now we start the shut down, the closing off, the rounding up, the work good byes! EISH!!!

Thanks to all of you who were so kind to offer your support and offer kind words of encouragement. It really kept us going and made this journey so far a pleasant one! Looking forward to the next chapter in our life!
I cannot mention by name, else I'd be here all night, but all the best to all those in the middle of this journey and to those starting out.
To those already there, see you on the other side!
Special mention to Sash82, stay strong for your DH! He'll come good soon, and soon you'll be needing to thank everyone as well! LOL

Till lata,
R

Thanks TheJo and SA3001!!

Our friends are very sad to see us go, but very excited for us at the same time! They reckoned there won't be any big farewells, thats just gonna make everyone sad, maybe just getting together every weekend from now till we leave, and they want a speech every weekend! LOL!!

Today I handed in my resignation! One of the scariest things yet I think. Tonight I'm having a Skype with my new employer about the legal stuff in making sure I get my VISA!

We've started to put our stuff up for sale and most if it is going to family, with the exception of a few things. We're taking nothing with, and will be leaving our 2 dogs as well.  :'( Gonna miss those Sharpeis!  :'(

So far things are moving smoothly along, no hiccups really. We just hope it keeps going like that! :)

Hey Rodster, sorry about your dogs. It's really tough having to rehome your pets. Do you have homes for them already? if not, maybe consider http://sharpei.org.za/. They have a rescue section. Please upload your dogs asap because it can take a while to get a new home or even a foster home. My husky took 3 months to get a foster home. This is a very emotional time, so good luck with the shut-down process.
