Hiya folks. another update quick. So we had the 2nd skype interview with Company B on Monday night. 2 people couldnt make the interview. So it was me and 2 other managers (1 is a SAFFER, from Durbs nogal!). It went very well. Lasted about 50 mins. They then asked if I could complete a technical questionnaire to test my technical ability and Testing skills. Alot of it was way over my head, that's when I thought that maybe that this was to good to be true and I should be expecting an 'unsuccessful application email' in the morning!
Fortunately I was able to answer all questions related to my occupation. So I thought the best thing to do was just be honest and let him know that I don't work with code as I havent been that exposed to it.
Well, morning came and I got an email inviting me for a 3rd interview with the 2 guys that couldn't make the interview the night before! Sometimes it pays to be honest! :)
That interview is happening tonight @ 10:00PM!

Now, just before my 2nd interview with Company B, I get a message from Company A saying that they have recieved 1 reference back and they are ready to make me an offer! They are just awaiting 1 more reference before taking the next step! Now picture recieving this message JUST before your interview, I couldn't even reply. I got the message literally 2 mins before my interview!! Palms were sweaty, mind is racing. Do I reply? Do i leave it?............Well I left it! After my interview, I replied to the message and now we wait for Company A!

I hope to never go through this drama again! Every interview night is a movie shooting scene in my room! Lights check, sound check, backround check! Even got the people's names on my wall! Driving me demekaar!!!  :2funny:

Rodster, I know the drama is stressful, but you are in a very envious position. Many people had to hit the streets looking for work and some succeeded, while some did not.

It all sounds fantastic so far. Even if company A makes an offer, just let them know you are considering it and will let them know. Maybe by that stage you'll have an offer from company B as well and then you can choose which is best.

Do you have a preference either way at this stage for company A or B?

Good luck, and thanks for keeping us all in the loop!

Holding thumbs for you!!!

Thanks TheJo!  O0

I'm thankful everyday for been in this position, believe me! Especially when I read of stories of ones who risk it all and move to NZ.

Both are actually great companies! Great culture, great people! If it does come to me choosing, that will be difficult! Both offer great benefits, 1 is in central town, a walk away from the harbour, so great scenery. The other is located south of Auckland. I suppose the preference will be what the one can offer compared to the other, more especially with relocation. Other than that, there's no preference really.

Thanks Sherelee and Michelle!
Ok, so company A has received both references, but Murphy has other plans! My prospective manager is on course for a week and will only be back at the office 30/09. So we wait another week!
Interview with Company B went very well on Thursday night! Spoke to another manager. Had a chat with HR and we spoke like I'm starting there tomorrow. Told me about all the benefits, the perks (great btw!), leave, people, culture etc ect.

No salary was discussed, as I didn't think it would be appropriate to ask. I'll wait to see if they make an offer.

So the hard work from my end is done. It's all just a waiting game now.  :coffee:
Without running the risk of sounding arrogant, I hope I'm actually not in a position where I need to choose an offer! For now we're just going to enjoy this loooong weekend!  :D

Cheers for now! O0

WOW! what a week this has been! What I thought would just be a week of waiting, turned out much more intense. On Tuesday evening, Company B mailed me again to check if I could perform another technical assessment! After a long sigh and panic, I got started. I was given 2 days to make this work and had to deliver a workable solution by Thursday night at 10:00PM SAT via a WEBEX session! I literally got it working half an hour before my demo!
10:00PM last night was probably my most stressful of all my interviews and it only lasted 15 mins!
They seemed very happy, I was honest and told them that it was a challenge, not only technically, but to my health and well being as well! Haha! Just kidding!

They told me, I should expect to hear from HR again wrt the next steps ie. visa app, immigration steps. Been an accredited company, they are very much sorted in this regard!

Obviously I couldnt sleep last night after all of that, so wifey and I made a fire at 11:00pm last night, sat by the fireplace and chatted about this journey so far, and YES we're still convinced that this is the right thing to do!  :coffee:

After a restless sleep, I checked my emails again this morning (force of habit these days! :) ) and there's an email from HR!!! She said that they're pleased to let me know I have moved on to the next steps, BUT, I must just complete 1 more assessment, just to assess my personality in the workplace. EISH! Fortunately it's nothing to stress about, it's just a matter of been honest.  8) This they need back by Sunday night SAT!

So, next week is going to be big! It's either YAY or NAY from both Company A and B! Company A promised to give me feedback on my application. Company B will assess my personality from the assessment and give feedback as well, while we wait, stress and wonder!

Holding thumbs for a MASSIVE next week!!
