Sorry TheJo,

It's been a crazy last few days! Between going to SAPS to lodge our request for the PCC, we had our bloods taken yesterday, trying to sell our stuff and of course been there for our friends that are trying to get the best out of all of us before we leave! Also trying to keep my new employer up to speed with whats happening. All very overwhelming!

About the dogs, no unfortunately I have not found a home for them yet. I will have a look into that website and see what we can do.

Is it normal to start having mixed emotions, almost 2nd thoughts? (sorry, did I say that out loud??  :o) Everything is just happening so very fast and with such little time left, everybody around us is so shocked, sad and also excited which is expected. But it's very diffucult for us to feel excited with so much going on!

Ah well, comes with the territory I suppose. Just gotta hang on in there!

I also had doubts near the end. That phase passed quickly  :gl2:

Oh I'm so glad to read this :-)

Sitting in my garden today next to the pool thinking...what are we doing lol a bit too late to start thinking those thoughts now hey! I think the biggest factor must be the 'comfort zone we have now, scared of the unknown but I'm sure its normal. I hope it is.

someone told me if you have even the slitest doubt before you go you shouldn't,and I disagree with that, its just Lucifer playing his tricks, I believe. We know we made the right desision and the scary thoughts are just part of this whole process!

I'm busy with our ita today and its a massive amount of paperwork, also trying to work in all the last braais with friends and making a turn at our fave restaurants, very busy!

Good luck with the last stretch!!! And tell that little devil on your shoulder to bigger off! :-)

Very natural to experience all those mixed emotions and second thoughts too.  Don't let it get the better of you as you may still experience them for a while after you get here.  I think it's better to take the chance, even if it turns out to be a mistake,  than to not and in 10 years time wonder what could have, might have, should have been.

I think that how you're feeling is completely normal. It doesn't matter how much sense the move makes you will still question yourself. I still have a long way to go to catch up to you guys and I still question myself. I think you will be fine, and in time you will be glad you didn't give in to doubt.

Rodster, I love following stories like yours.  It is almost like a reality show  ;D ..   or a soapie ??  To read the very first post where you were so dejected, and now look where you are now.  It is amazing, and I know, having been there myself, how important it is for those wanting to make the move, or in the process, to read these stories.  Good or bad, we all learn from them.

ok, small update! :)

All our medicals were completed on the 1st Nov. Such a smooth-sailing process, no hassles, no stress!  We went for X-Rays in the morning which took a while, about just over 2 hours which included waiting for the results. Kids were excited!

At noon, we went to see the doc for the full medical. Also, doc was easy as Sunday morning! :) Whole family is completely healthy, so we passed with flying colours! So I asked him just btw, how many families does he see for immigration. He reckoned about a family a day, and that's just for New Zealand. That was interesting!

Anywho, all docs were signed and off we went to celebrate, took the kids to Grand West Casino, had lunch and played some games. People must have wondered what kind of parents take their kids out of school and take the day off!  :idiot2: LOL!

Today I recieved notification that our Police Clearance Ceritificates are finalised and will be sent back to us this week. This is the document we have been waiting for to send off for our VISA application.

Then I realised that we actually need unabridged birth certificates for our children, which we hadn't applied for yet! We rushed last week Wednesday to Home Affairs to apply for them, they told us minimum 6-8 weeks!! This couldn't have come at a worse time! It's November, heading into festive season and I'm meant to start work on 14 January or soon as VISA gets approved.

We've tried contacting individuals at HA to try and get it processed quicker, but no joy! What's the chances of sending in the VISA appl with the normal birth ceritficates and then courier the unabridged when it arrives? Or is there anyone else who's perhaps had a good experience with getting these docs in good time? We really could do with some help! Anyone please  :help:

Glad to hear all the good news!
Sorry to hear about the BC, but don't stress too much. We had ours within a week or two. The only one we're still waiting for is our unabridged marriage certificate, but I have a copy of the register that was filled in by hand and our agent said we should be fine for now with that and the abridged one but will need the unabridged one for PR application which is still a couple of months away.
Where did you apply for the BC's?

WOW, within a week or 2?? Well, they did say our passports would take 4 weeks and we got them within 1 week. So i'm hoping the same would apply for our kids BC's. We went throught to the HA branch in Bellville, Voortrekker Road. They were very helpful and I just hope it comes through soon!
