Pugs
« on: February 08, 2013, 02:31:04 pm »
Hi Everyone!y

I am just in the planning phase of this whole process, but one of the most important elements is getting my 2 pugs over there with us.

I have spoken to SAA Cargo and they were not very helpful. I have spoken to a pet travel company and they are saying that the only way to get them across is via Hong Kong. I really am not keen on that, I have read that many dogs have died there. Different people have also said that they wont be allowed to fly together, whereas other have said they will.... can anyone shed some light on this for me.

Has anyone flown their pugs via Hong Kong and were they ok? And what time of the year was it?

Thanks

my pet relocator (not in SA) has just sent two pugs to new zealand. they are flying from qatar to dubai, dubai to sydney and sydney to auckland.

they have to go in separate crates, no airline will let you put animals in a crate together.

my understanding from her is that pugs are difficult to transport, but it can be done as long as an airline can be found that will take them. perhaps thats why the pet relocator you spoke to said they have to go via hong kong, as that may be the only route the cargo airline will take.

good luck :-)

Thank for the info. Do you have a name of that company? I am busy doing all sorts of research and just trying to find a knowledgeable pet travel company. My other plan may be to find them a specific airline which transports dogs. I just dont understand why dogs cant fly on the plane with you
