Expression of Interest

What is an Expression of Interest (EOI)?

New Zealand Immigration have a system of quickly screening applicants before they actually apply to immigrate to New Zealand. This is called an Expression of Interest.

You basically fill in an online form on their website, along with a small application processing fee. You are then given a score for the various aspects that New Zealand Immigration are looking for in a potential immigrant. For example a Doctorate is scored higher than a Degree, the more working years you have left, the higher your score in that area, etc. You then go into a pool along with all the other applicants. Every two weeks New Zealand Immigration then does a draw from the pool, selecting their allowed quota for that fortnight. Highest points first until the quota is full. Those that didn’t have enough points are then returned to the pool for the next draw.

What is nice about the Expression of Interest system is that within two weeks you have a pretty good idea of whether you qualify or not, saving you a lot of time and money in the process.

Please remember that the information you will need to submit may differ depending on your own unique situation, but it gives you a good idea of what is required.
