Apparently they've just had one of their coldest winters in a long time.  We got here at the end of it.  I think the reason I felt the cold was because the houses are not centrally heated (in general) as they are in the USA, and not as well insulated as in SA.

We had a beautiful sunny warm day yesterday.  Went all the way up to 19C!  We've had warm 13C and COLD 13C  all depends on whether the sun is shining and whether there's a cold wind blowing.

It is known to have 4 seasons in one day here.  And they're right!  The sun can be shining and it's lovely, next moment the wind blows the clouds in, it rains, gets really cold, and an hour later the sun is shining again.  The rain is not hard.  Just this very light drizzle, most of the time...

Smallfly it depends on who you ask.  If you ask some of the Ys bere who has been here some time now, they will say it was fresh to mild.

If you ask me, yesterday was ******* cold.  Don't know what the temps where and don't want to know.

Today it is fresh and the sun came out for a while.  Not too bad, just need to set the heater for 27C and not 36C so not too bad.

Happy said layer up and I look like a union.   ;)

When you talk about the weather I keep the PC sideways so hubby can not read by accident - he comes from Messina and is allergic to rain and dies with cold......

 :-X :-X :-X

Lucky there's no rain on the north island ne?  :2funny: >:D

Here's the plan, buy him a jacket called "Driza-bone", they are used a lot here mostly by farmers and us horsey people. I borrowed a friends one day when it was pouring down and it did keep me very dry, and strangely they look like you would be boiling in something like that but I wasn't hot at all, just snuggy!! After that swore I had to have one. They are very expensive new $190 - $220, so I kept my eye on trademe and just bought a brand new one for $60

HERE is a link to a place that sells them new in NZ

And HERE is one on trademe at the moment O0

Lekker, rather have that and lovely green rolling hills than dry, brown grass.

Well we had a perfect day yesterday in Auckland...hardly any clouds in the sky. One thing I noticed here is that the sun is very warm. Once it starts to peep throught the clouds, it gets warmer. We are in spring now so there are going to be some really lovely days ahead  ;)

you must prepare for summer with the sun. I learnt the hard way. Went to cricket match on a 18C day with total cloud and cold wind (in January). I was blistered and bleeding all over my face from the sun burn. BE WARNED. The ozone is MUCH  MUCH thinner here than in SA. I do not go out in summer without suncream even on cool days. YOU WILL BURN!!!! 8)
