Hi all!!!!!
« on: February 19, 2008, 08:59:06 AM »
:'( I'm from a small Freestate town, called Ficksburg, and I always thought that we were safer than most cities in South Africa. That was untill yesterday.  In one day, we dah a bomb threat in Shoprite and one of our wellknown residents and his wife were attacked with a spade, just for cellphones and some cash.  My husband and I have been talking about immigrating 4 sum time now, but now I don't want to stay in this country anymore!

I just hope that the whole process is quick!!!
Nice!!!

Welcome Janetjie!

All the necessary info is here.  Depending on whether you have skills and qualifications on the shortage list or not, and how much you're willing to wait things out... It can be anything from 3 months to a year, or even longer.
Many people do a holiday here to check things out, and while here, look for jobs.  If you are able to find a job while here, you can immediately apply for a work permit.
Times also depend on how much tying up you need to do on the SA side - sell house, cars, business, etc.   Make sure you have paid off all debts, you don't want to start a new life this end with debts on that end.

All the best with the adventures!  LOts of info is here so READ...  O0
lekker sweet as, y'all

welcome to the family

I have a student who has a farm in Fouriesburg, so maybe next time I go visit there for a weekend, we can meet up for a coffee / dop somewhere?

:)Hi Nolan< you are more than welcome to say hi! Thanx for all the great advice, I've been reading other folks' howzitz too, and you really seem to know your stuff.  Hubby and I have decided to plan a trip to Cape Town in the near future to do the IELTS test, and most of the other things that we can do before doing the EOI (which is a hell of a lot of money!)

Thanx and I'll be asking A LOT more questions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nice!!!

:angel:Not forgetting all the other hellos, I appreciate it. It is nice to feel welcome where you feel so stupid and clueless. You are my BEST family (my blood relitaves tend to get a bit crazy and negative sometimes - especially my MOTHER-IN -LAW!!!)  I'll be most grateful to be rid of her once we are in NZ! :idiot2:P.S. I'm sure not all Mother-in-laws are that bad, so please forgive me!!!
Nice!!!

Just a quick question, is it necessary to do the IELTS for immigration to NZ?  was under the impression it was not needed as we work and converse in english.
