Hello
« on: May 27, 2011, 01:08:39 AM »
Hi all,
I have been reading the posts on the website for a while now and thought to just introduce myself and say Hi  :) and say thank you for all interesting posts, make it easier to get other viewpoints and know that we are not alone.
We have been in NZ for almost 4 months now and sent in our PR applications this week. My hubby has a work visa in skilled migrant category for two years. Any idea how long the process is from here ?
The road up until here has been an emotional rollercoaster, have had very good days and really happy to be here in NZ and really bad days with missing friends and family back in SA and ready to pack my bags and go back. Today is a bad day :(
I am now going to put negative into positive and go and clean my house. Have a great day all !

:welcome: and hope your day is getting better.  It will take time to settle and I guess we'll always miss family and friends.  Nothing is ever 100% as we'd like it to be, but try and focus on the positives as much as possible and make new friends  :1hug:  Where are you in NZ?

:welcome:  to the crazy bunch.  We've been here three and half years and I and so my husband still gets days where you kind-a gets homesick if you want to call it that.  I think it is very normal as long as you don't try to carry that by yourself.  Instead share with your forum mates.  We're here to help.... this is like a marriage.... for better or worse    We came on a WTR with my husband on the skills shortage list and our application the date of submitting it until approved took about 10 months.  So sit back and don't stress yourself too much.  Good luck with all the emotions.  They do get less and further apart.

Hey Tap, been here over 1 year and loving it.  But, still get my downers too.  Will you please teach me how to make a negative into a positive when house cleaning ???   :2funny:   I really need to learn this.  With 2 kids at home, 2 puppies, one dog, a hen and her 6 chicks in the lounge too, I feel like importing a maid for 3 months.

BTW, I heard this has happened a few times .  People have brought their maids over on a 3 months visa.  I do find that strange, i enjoy having no one around me all the time.

Having said that, I enjoy having a clean house all the time too, so that is a Catch 22

The sorrows do get milder .  Hang on there.

This was hilarious Colleen !!!  Must try that.   I do put on music and pour a glass of wine when I do the ironing.  Although , have just realised that I have not ironed once since being here.

:2funny: :2funny:    The video was so funny.  I bought an iron only recently  to iron my clothes that got crumpled in the container.  It is still in the box.... ;D
