Checking points before submitting EOI
« on: November 07, 2011, 09:03:48 PM »
Hi everyone

I have checked my points over and over with various scenarios and hubby always gets 160 plus points  :yippee: I am led to believe that that will mean an automatic selection. However, does anyone know of anyone who is able to check whether we are smoking our socks before we actually pay and submit our online EOI? I m worried that I am claiming points yet NZIS will not accept them

This is such a daunting process and a little over whelming at times BUT equally exciting. Hubby and I were about to apply as secondary teachers until we realised we can't even though we ARE qualified teachers cause all our work experience is teaching at tertiary level. So we are now applying as lecturers WHICH means no NZQA just yet  :yippee:

Thanks to everyone for your advice.

Tracey

Your qualifications and your work experience has to be in the same field.  So if your qualifications are as school teachers, then your experience mus also be in that field.  BUT that is not to say that you can't apply for a lecturing position once here.  As has been said, there's nothing wrong in phoning INZ here.  The cost of the call will be cheaper than hiring an agent, believe me!!

Thanks for the  :help: everyone. Will definitely call INZ in NZ. As for the work experience, yup, we are both qualified teachers but holding a teaching qualification, over and above a masters or PhD is now a prerequisite for most tertiary based teaching posts. AND, we both only have tertiary based teaching expereince (hubby was an economics lecturer for 7 years) so its a good thing we are applying for lecturing and not teaching. However, we will make sure we register as teachers once in NZ anyway to broaden our employment options :) Will also pop into the mebassy in Pretoria as I believe they check various applications.

Once again thank you to everyone for all your advice and info. Makes the process a leeetle less daunting

God bless
