African Grey Pet Parrot

I have searched the web and have read many articles regarding bringing my African Grey pet parrot to New Zealand. But, to be honest, I am still a bit confused... 

I have also spoken to the SA State Vet and they have provided me with the procedure to get my parrot medically certified for NZ. But, when I have a chat to the MAF Biosecurity NZ they tell me different. So, maybe there is some confusion from my side or theirs?

Can anyone tell me if there is any way to get our pet parrot into NZ legally?

Hi wickes and welcome Not sure about the parrot. I know that friends of ours manged to take theirs with them to Oz. I can find out who they saw on this side if that would help?

I don't know anything about birds, but dogs here are so expensive!  It seems everything is cross bred with a poodle.  You get spoodles ( think this is a spaniel and poodle crossing?)  Cute dogs average around $1000.00 and bulldogs about $1800.00.  The cheapest dogs are a type of pig dog and they are really ugly - about $500.00.  I think we'll settle for a cat as dogs are way out of our budget at this stage.

Oh no, thats not good news..... one of our first orders of business when we get to NZ would be to buy a puppy and a kitten! I guess it will now be 2 kittens rather.

You can get cheaper dogs that are not registered etc.
Look on trade me. There are also a lot of dogs that are going for free.  Try your spca too.
