Buying pets in NZ
« on: July 19, 2008, 07:23:50 pm »
I just couldnt figure out where to put this post so please move it if it belongs somewhere else nolan!

I would like to know what pets cost in NZ.  For example a Daschund puppy or kittens?  I have tried to look on online pet shops but Im not getting anywhere.  I saw on the SPCA site (or whatever it is called in NZ) that its roughly between $200 and $400 to adopt cats and dogs!! Is that a normal price?

Very, very expensive. dogs cost anything from $500 -$1500 and then there's hidden costs. Yearly registration fees,  need to be Id chipped ....

Trade me is cheaper but than a pet shop, but then you have to ask them about the injections. Did the puppies get them already or not. (add the cost)

Things are also different in NZ than in South africa in the sense that a puppy in NZ can be 2 years old.!!!

My neighbour is selling her kittens (mixed breed) for $50 each  :o

My friend down the road breeds with foxterriers (not registered, not full blood, allthough they look fine...  ??? :-\) and they sell at $150 before injections

Fish as large as your thumb nail is $5 each  :o

No pets for me - I'll just talk to the birds, feed the neighbour's cat secretly and clean up after my kids....  :)

I dont think we are too concerned about having purebreds or anything.  didi I may just be interested in your neighbour's kittens if the timing is right and we find a place that alllows animals once we arrive.

Weet enige iemand dalk hoekom hulle so duur is.???

Dis 'n verpesting glo ek. OOOOOOOOOeeeeee hier kom die skote nou........  Sien julle weer,  >:D , SAKB.

Cheers, SAKB.
