Detail Costing of the Process (Work in progress)
« on: July 04, 2011, 01:15:54 pm »
Hi Guys

Thought i would list our experiences as we go through them with regards to getting ready and taking our Pets over:
We are planning on taking 1 German Shepperd and 2 Cats (one old and one young)

Fist things first: Get the latest requirements from the NZIS website with regards to tests to be done:
Find a good vet that is willing and able to help you through the process: we are using Terrace road Veterinary hospital in Edenvale.
They are really very helpful and a tad cheaper than other vets we looked at as well.
*(Please note the German Shepperd already has annual vaccinations so i don't have those prices!)

Stage 01: 14/05/2011- microchipping and vaccination incl rabies
- Back home microchipping, Cat & Dog: R177.84 ea
- Profender medium, Cat: R51.99 ea
- Vaccination annual & rabies, Cat : R319.20
- Vaccination rabies only, Dog: R114.00

Stage 02: 02/07/2011- at least 30 Days after rabies vaccine:
- Blood Collection and lab handling fee: R205.20 ea
- Rabies Titre test, Cat & Dog: R957.60 ea

So far so good- no extra costs with regards to Cats ripping the vet to shreds and having to pay for his stitches- so that's good.  :)
Will post more on this subject as we progress.

Things sure have changed since 4 years ago!!  If it were this easy then, we'd have brought our 13 yr old kitty along with us.  Alas, she's in retirement in East Texas and I don't think I'll see her again before she goes to kitty heaven.   :'(

So glad you are able to bring your pets over!!
lekker sweet as, y'all
